So what exactly is in a Policy and Procedures Manual? Well, there can be two parts to this manual. Firstly, the policy section would have all the policies for your business. Secondly, the Procedures section has step by step instructions on how to undertake all tasks.

When a new employee arrives at your business, all you simply need to do is give them the Policy and Procedures Manual. Encourage them to take it home and read it and get to know it line by line. This will ensure they have a reference tool when working on the job. If they have a question or query, the first port of call should be the Procedures Manual.

You as a business owner need to point them in that direction first - don't answer their query, simply tell them to refer to your Manual, and then if they still need a question answered, then it is time for them to ask you.
